Can I really live and work in Thailand for a few months at a time or will I have to commit myself for a longer period of time?

The answer to this is yes and no. Normally if you take up a teaching job here in Thailand, you'll be expected to sign a one year teaching contract, that's the minimum that will be expected from you. Whatever you do after that will be up to you.

Will I get a work permit?

To successfully qualify for a working permit in Thailand you must produce a 4 year college / university degree + transcripts. If you don't have a degree then you'll in most cases still find employment opportunities teaching English here in Thailand, though in most cases you'll not get a work permit! What does this mean for you? Simply that you'll have to do visa runs.

I've never taught English before, where do I start?
