If you know that GEICO are the USA's 3rd largest insurance company, you will realize that they can afford to be choosy about who they employ. In keeping with the company ethos, they are specifically looking for team players and effective communicators. But how easy is it to be chosen for the team and what would you need to do to succeed? In this article, I will review GEICO careers and show you how easy (or not!) it is to pass the GEICO employment test.

Having completed your research, your CV is looking great and in good working order, your interview clothes are aired and ready, shoes shined within an inch of their life - what's next? What else should you do to prepare for a career with GEICO? And just how easy will it be to pass the GEIGO employment test?

Thanks to the quality of GEICO careers and staff, they have perfected their employment test and know how to evaluate exactly what you are made of. They will be looking at the skills, talents and knowledge you possess. Each test is tailor-made for a particular role, so is based on real-life situations staff meet on the shop floor. The aim is to make sure you are well matched for the position you apply for.

The GEICO employment test comprises 3 sections:

1) Reading and comprehension. Based on real life 'interactions', you will read a series of short stories and answer the accompanying set of questions. If it seems a bit redundant since you are a post-graduate or have previous experience, don't worry. It is mandatory.

2) Typing and computer skills. This is a multiple choice, basic skills test to find out what your typing and computer programme level currently is. Database knowledge is important within the insurance industry and since communication is a key element in GEICO careers, you may also have a grammar test to sit.

3) Role-play. If you don't like the idea role-play and cringe at the very thought of it, you'll have to change - fast! The test is in the setting of customer/associate situations, and you will either be the GEICO representative dealing with a customer, or a customer needing advice and help. The aim is to evaluate your sales skills and see how well you work under pressure, so don't get riled up and especially remember to treat the associate with courtesy!

Forewarned is fore-armed, so they say, and knowing what lies ahead will really help your preparations for the interview. Make sure you research thoroughly for the job you are applying for.
