And upon stepping into his new position, he personally thanked my husband for his steadfast effort and outstanding revenue-driving efforts by laying him off. A furious job search ensued but with the economy in a downward spiral, unemployment rates soaring and companies dramatically downsizing, what do you do? And if youre lucky to be called for an interview, the process can take weeks if not months. Whats worse: We had no means of alternative employment Im a stay-at-home mother.
