The research, the first of three Pan-European studies of recruitment by StepStone spoke to 1,600 organisations and 2,478 candidates. It was carried out across nine European countries including Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and Norway through a series of online surveys. What it clearly reveals is that as the European economy bounces back from recession so the European jobs market will be 'reignited in 2010'. Nearly 70% of the organisations questioned indicated that they plan to increase recruitment over the next 12 months with 20% expanding to create new positions. Employees frustrated or disappointed with their existing posts are also starting to plan a positive career move. Of the nearly 2,500 candidate respondents to the survey 2 out of 5 revealed that it is lack of career development or the opportunity to build their careers in the way they want that is compelling them to look for a new position.Though Britain's recovery is re latively sluggish and, for now, lagging behind mainland Europe, the optimism expressed through the survey can rightly be shared by businesses here. Surely it's only a case of "when" not "if" we see a resurgent UK economy and the associated HR activity. New ways of finding jobsStepStone, who specialise in supplying 'the Human Capital Management ("HCM") sector' including healthcare recruitment agencies, social care recruitment agencies and HR recruitment agencies with recruitment services and software also reveal that there has been a fundamental evolution in the way that people now look for work.
